FBR Denies Rumors of System Breach, Reaffirms Digital Security Measures

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially refuted recent claims circulating on social and digital media that alleged its digital systems had been compromised. The tax authority clarified that no breach or unauthorized access had occurred, terming such reports as “misleading” and “not reflective of the actual situation.”

In an official clarification, the FBR emphasized that all its digital and IT systems, including the IRIS portal, FBR website, and Pakistan Customs platforms, are fully operational, secure, and functioning as intended. The organization reassured taxpayers, businesses, and other stakeholders that sensitive taxpayer data remains fully protected under its advanced cybersecurity framework.

According to the FBR spokesperson, the institution continuously invests in modern cyber-protection technologies to safeguard the integrity of its systems. “FBR’s IT infrastructure adheres to strict national and international data security protocols,” the statement read. “We have not detected any breach, malware attack, or unauthorized intrusion in any of our systems.”

The tax authority also urged citizens, media houses, and digital content creators to verify information through official FBR channels before sharing unverified claims that may cause unnecessary alarm. Disseminating inaccurate information, the FBR noted, not only misleads the public but can also harm the credibility of Pakistan’s digital tax ecosystem.

The board further highlighted its collaboration with national cybersecurity agencies to continuously monitor and enhance its defenses against potential threats. Regular audits, system updates, and employee training are part of its ongoing effort to ensure the resilience of FBR’s IT infrastructure.

FBR reiterated its unwavering commitment to data protection, transparency, and trust-building with the public. It encouraged taxpayers to continue using digital services confidently, reaffirming that all online tax filing, refund processing, and customs operations are running smoothly.

The organization concluded its statement by reaffirming that no data leak or disruption has been reported in any of its operational systems. FBR’s proactive communication aims to combat misinformation and reinforce public confidence in Pakistan’s evolving digital governance systems.
